Follow these steps to create a Private Auction or Preferred deal when your starting point is the My deals page.
Steps to open the Create a private deal page
- Go to the top menu bar and click the Inventory link.
- Click the My deals menu option.
- Click the New deal button.
- Select the Private auction or Preferred deal menu option. A new page displays.
Steps to create a deal
- Go to the new page.
- Fill in the fields. (see below)
- Click the Create deal button.
After you create a deal, the My deals page adds a record to the table. Note that the Active journeys field is blank until a user adds this deal to a journey.

Steps to filling in the form fields
All fields are required unless marked Optional.
General info
- Deal name: Enter the deal name provided by the SSP.
- Description: Add descriptive text. That's optional.
- Publisher: Click the field and select an option on the drop-down menu.
- Exchange: Click the field and select an option.
- Exchange deal ID: Enter the ID provided by the SSP.
Publisher note
You must select a publisher from the drop-down list. To add a new publisher to the list, contact your illumin Account Manager. Include the following details in your request:
Required Information:
- Publisher name
- Logo (PNG or JPG, minimum 300×300, 1:1 ratio)
- Publisher website URL
Optional Information:
- Publisher contact name
- Publisher content categories
- For CTV publishers: Do they require high-res video assets?
- Publisher specs (URL, PDF, or TXT)
- Countries where the publisher operates or delivers inventory
- Supported language(s)
Deal details
- Auction type: Click the field and select an option (e.g. fix price or floor price).
- Deal floor price: Enter a value and select a currency.
- Start and End dates: Use the calendar picker to enter a start date (required) and an end date (optional).
- Placement: Click the field and select one or more options. Optional.
- Transparent billing: If the toggle is switched on, margins will not be applied at billing.
Market
- Countries: Click the field and select one or more locations.
- Languages: Click the field and select one or more languages.
Content
- Creative type: Click the field and select one or more types.
- Content categories: Click the field and select one or more categories. Optional.
Deal visibility
- Agencies: Click the field and select one or more options.
- Advertisers: Click the field and select one or more options.
Active status
- Use the toggle to enable or disable the deal.

How do marketers create a Private Auction or Preferred Deal in illumin?
Marketers create a Private Auction or Preferred Deal from the My deals page by selecting Inventory, opening My deals, and choosing New deal. The workflow opens a form where all required deal, market, and visibility fields must be completed before selecting Create deal.
Why does a new deal show no active journeys after creation?
A new deal shows no active journeys because the deal is not assigned to a journey yet. The Active journeys field populates only after a marketer adds the deal to a journey canvas and activates it within that workflow.
What information is required to set up a publisher for a private deal?
A publisher requires a name, logo, and website URL before use in a deal. If the publisher does not appear in the list, marketers must contact an illumin Account Manager to submit the required assets and optional specifications.
Why is a Private Auction or Preferred Deal not available for selection?
A deal is unavailable when required fields remain incomplete, the Active status toggle is off, or visibility limits exclude the agency or advertiser. Marketers should confirm dates, status, and visibility controls before troubleshooting inventory access.
