Steps to add a tactic
- Open a campaign on the Canvas (new experience).
- Go to the left-hand menu.
- Select a campaign.
- Expand the folder.
- Click Add tactic. A new page displays.
- Select a tactic type (e.g. display, video, etc.).
- Click the Create button.
illumin adds the tactic to the menu. By default, the status of the tactic is Enabled. Optionally, switch off the toggle to pause a tactic in a published campaign.

Can a tactic exist without active delivery on the Canvas?
A tactic may exist without active delivery when marketers set its status to paused. The platform keeps the tactic configuration available for later activation. This approach supports phased launches or approval workflows without rebuilding the tactic.
Does adding a tactic change the campaign publish state?
Adding a tactic does not publish or republish a campaign by itself. Delivery begins only after the campaign publishes and the tactic status remains enabled. Marketers control timing through the publish action and the tactic status toggle.
What happens if a tactic type changes after creation?
A tactic type cannot change after creation on the Canvas. Marketers must create a new tactic with the correct type and remove or pause the original tactic. This rule preserves consistency across creative formats and delivery settings.
